MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Transit System is on to the next phase of the Move 2025 initiative, which is aiming to shape new bus routes in our community.
After finishing phase one with a series of online surveys and public meetings, MCTS has moved on to phase two, which includes additional feedback from the public and ends with a final recommendation plan that will be sent to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors for official approval.
"We have a number of different changes that could be occurring. Some routes might get their length extended, some might get shortened in order to help extend other routes," said Tom Bertrand, MCTS transit planner. "MCTS Move is cost neutral, so in order to help one route, we might have to take away from another that's not performing well, so it's all about balancing our system and trying to ensure the best service possible."
If the proposal is approved later this summer, MCTS plans to educate the public on the new bus routes coming to the community, which will tentatively go into effect in August of this year.
Feedback can be submitted through an online survey, by visiting RideMCTS.com/MOVE, or by attending the next public meeting scheduled for April 10, from 5-7 p.m. at South Milwaukee Public Library.
