Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputy stops man driving 99 in a 55 mph zone

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A man who was stopped for going 44 mph over the legal speed limit said he was late for a soccer game, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office says a deputy spotted the driver going 99 mph around 8:00 p.m. on I-94 southbound in Oak Creek. The speed limit in the area is 55 mph.

Authorities say the 26-year-old driver did not have a valid driver's license and was cited for operating after suspension in addition to the speeding violation.

The Sheriff's Office says from July 26 through August 1, deputies handed out 202 traffic citations, 138 which were for speeding.
