Milwaukee early voting numbers surpass previous spring elections
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The city of Milwaukee says early voting numbers have already surpassed number from previous spring elections.
The city says as of Sunday, more than 1,500 people have voted early in Milwaukee. Last year, just under 1,500 voted early.
"Anything that could come to them as a barrier on election day and prevent them from voting, early voting provides them with an assurance that they're going to be able to cast a ballot in the election," says Neil Albrecht, Executive Director for the Election Commission.
Early voting ends Saturday, March 30. The city says they are expecting a strong voter turnout for the April 2nd election is Tuesday, April 2.
