MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The 18th annual employee appreciation week kicked off Monday, Aug. 14. The official kickoff took place at Red Arrow Park. Following coffee, downtown workers were encouraged to get some lunch.
They passed out slices from Ian’s Pizza and cookies from Davian’s. The rain caused MKE Downtown BID 21 to scale back the event -- there were no office games, vendors or entertainment.
Most people took their pizza back to their desk for a dry place to eat, but first Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson thanked employees and spoke about the importance on recognizing those who work in the city.
Rebecca Sue Button, the marketing and social media director of Milwaukee’s Downtown BID #21, says this week is about encouraging people to enjoy all that Milwaukee has to offer.
“Our downtown workforce is a vital constituency to how our downtown thrives… to the vibrancy of downtown,” she said. “We encourage people to be here, go out, support local restaurants on your lunch hour, hang out with your coworkers.”
The week is filled with events— from Happy Hours to daily coffee hours. Click HERE for more.
