GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- BILTRITE Furniture and Mattress partnered with the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative on Friday, Dec. 13 to provide new furniture and supplies to veterans in need.
A truck was loaded with mattresses, chairs and other items at the company's Greenfield store to assist local veterans as part of a long-standing partnership between the two organizations. The initiative has worked with BILTRITE for over a decade to help veterans live more comfortably.
The Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative focuses on helping veterans find housing but emphasizes that furnishing those homes is the next step.
"We’ll take all those items, from mattresses, to couches, to end tables, to lamps, to hygiene supplies, and be able to furnish all those homes for those veterans so that they have a place to go, and all they need, things they need in order to start their life," said Jacob Heinitz, board vice president of the organization.
The initiative is seeking furniture donations and can arrange pick-up and delivery for veterans. For more information, click here. If you are interested in requesting a pickup, click here.
