Milwaukee Man Walks Up to Squad Car with Metal Pipe and Smashes Window

A Milwaukee man walked up to a squad car with a metal pipe and smashed the front passenger side window on Tuesday.

According to police, the officer, a 32-year-old man with two years of service and assigned to District Three, was on patrol in the 1300 block of W. Center Street around 3:35 p.m. on October 11.

The suspect, a 25-year-old Milwaukee man walked up to the officer’s squad car and using a metal pipe smashed the front passenger side window.

Small shards of glass sprayed the officer and injured his eyes.

The suspect began to run away but the officer and a responding officer were able to take the suspect into custody a short distance away.

The injured officer was treated at a local hospital for irritation to his eyes and returned to duty later that evening. The suspect has an arrest record dating back to 2003 and faces potential charges of Battery to Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting an Officer, and Damage to Property. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
