Milwaukee Police Sergeant accidentally fires rifle inside District 1

A Milwaukee Police Sergeant is under investigation after accidentally firing a rifle inside District One in the Police Administration Building at 8th and State.

It happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday in an area that is not open to the public.

Nobody was hurt.

Police say the weapon discharged during a \"function check.\"

The investigation will determine if the sergeant faces disciplinary action or retraining.
