More than two dozen UW students arrested at Badgers home opener

MADISON -- Several UW students were ejected from the first Wisconsin Badgers home game of the season September 6, most of whom were arrested and cited for underage drinking. 


UW-Madison's Police Department released game day statistics from Saturday's game against Western Illinois.


According to the numbers, 31 people were arrested at the game, including 28 UW students, and 27 of 32 citations issued at Saturday's game are for underage drinking. 


A total of 47 people were ejected from the game, including those arrested and cited. 


In addition to underage drinking, violations include theft, disorderly conduct, obstructing and resisting officers, and alcohol possession in the stadium.


The highest preliminary breath sample taken at Saturday's game was .287, more than twice the legal limit in Wisconsin. 


Wisconsin defeated Western Illinois, 37 to 3, scoring its 19th consecutive home opener win.
