UPDATE: Man shot by Milwaukee Police officers on October 10 near 101st and Bender pronounced brain dead

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The 31-year-old man who was shot by Milwaukee Police near 101st and Bender on October 10 has been pronounced brain dead while at Froedtert Hospital, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner.
According to the ME, the man was pronounced brain dead on Wednesday, October 17 just after 7 p.m.
Milwaukee Police have identified the man as Alonzo Smith.
The Wauwatosa Police Department is investigating the death.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee Police say a suspect is in critical condition following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday morning.
At a press conference, authorities said they responded to the area near 101st and Bender around 5:50 a.m. for a shots fired called. Witnesses said shots were being fired at an apartment building.
Once on the scene, officers saw someone with a gun near the parking lot. Officers say the subject was asked to drop the gun, but instead fired on the officers who returned fire. The suspect was hit multiple times and is in critical condition.
The suspect’s uncle told CBS 58 News, it’s not his first time being shot by officers.
“He have a mental problem, and he got shot in Chicago. They shot and tased him, they tased him like nine times and shot him,” said Donnell Dowdy.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, while visiting family in Chicago, he was shot by Chicago Police. He later received a $180,000 settlement for the incident.
The two Milwaukee officers involved in Wednesday's gunfight were not injured. The department is now going through body camera footage.
Police say more than one gun was recovered from the scene. It is unknown if there was more than one person shooting.
Two officers from District 4 fired the shots. One is 29-years-old with 3 years of service. The other is 27-years-old with 1 year of service. Neither officer was hurt.
The suspect is a 31-year-old Milwaukee man with a criminal record.
The Wauwatosa Police Department is leading the investigation. Authorities say there is no danger to the public.

The incident happened near 101st St. and Bender.
Police say the suspect was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A witness tells CBS 58 she heard more than 20 gunshots.
