NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A group of cheerleaders at New Berlin Eisenhower High School is doing everything they can to get ready before hitting the world stage.
The Sparkle Cheer Team includes many talented students with special needs. They have been asked to represent the United States at the International Cheer Union World Championships in April. It's a huge surprise because the team only started this school year. Now, they need to figure out if they can pay for the trip.
Senior Hailey Fortier pushed for the teams creation last fall. She also helps coach the team and soon learned about the world championships in Florida.
"My jaw dropped to the floor when she told me we had the opportunity. I was like yes, let's make a video and submit it," Fortier said.
From the clip, they were selected to compete in the Unified Division. That means the varsity cheerleaders would be there too.
"We're actually going to fundraise like $10,000."
With that goal comes a lot of work and confidence. The team's Booster Club has a GoFundMe set up. They've already raised just over $3,000. If you'd like to donate, click here.
