New Berlin native keeps up the green and gold spirit at the original Packers bar in LA
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (CBS 58) -- Packers fans will be filling SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles this weekend for Sunday's game against the Rams.
But there are a few other places in LA where Wisconsinites will feel right at home.
Packers fans are notoriously good travelers for away games, but they are also everywhere. CBS 58's Natalie Sheperd found some at Mom's Bar on Santa Monica Blvd.
"You'd be surprised during the regular season how many people are in this place. It feels like Wisconsin," said Dan Port from New Berlin.
Port came to LA for college, but he hasn't lost his Midwest roots.
"My grandfather was actually a season ticket holder," said Port. "I've been going to Packers games since I was in diapers, really."
He is a part of a group that gathers at Mom's every Sunday, hosting Packers fans with a big party.
UW-Milwaukee alum David Cooley is part of that group.
"It's really magical, in fact, just being around people and hearing people that from Shawano and Green Bay or Ashwaubenon and can actually pronounce it correctly is quite extraordinary," said Cooley.
It's part of what makes this place, and the fans special.
"Whenever I see someone wearing the green and gold, you're always compelled to go say 'hi 'and 'go pack go' and everyone's right there with you every time," said Cooley.
Cooley says there may be other Packers bars in LA, but you can't beat the original.
"Other packers bars have started to evolve, and they're all very nice, but this is the original packers bar."
