'His claim is false': Racine County car salesman fired after viral TikTok video

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A salesman at a Racine County car dealership is under fire, after a recent TikTok he posted went viral.

The TikTok in question, posted by a now deleted account under @KennySelllss, sparked controversy online as it featured salesman Kenny Rua with the caption "you look happier... thanks, I just sold a single mom a car $10,000 over sticker."

Since the video, the Ziegler Honda of Racine dealership has been the target of bad reviews, leading to this Facebook post claiming the scenario was false and intended as a "joke."

"Although we value freedom of speech, we do hold our team members to a high standard of decency, truthfulness, and service-these values were not displayed in this situation," the post continued.

On Monday, Aug. 4, CBS 58 learned Rua was terminated from his position and received this statement from officials:

“Effective immediately, Zeigler Honda of Racine has decided to part ways with the salesperson responsible for a recent TikTok video that falsely represented our sales practices, regardless of his intent. His actions do not represent the values we stand for as a dealership and a community of professionals.”

Officials declined an in-person interview and instead referred comment back to the statement.
