Officials: Drunk motorcyclist said his bike 'magically appeared' on side of road, claimed he wasn't driving

CAMPBELLSPORTS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two Campbellsport men riding motorcycles were arrested for drunk driving on Sunday evening, Oct. 27. One of the riders stated he wasn't driving at all and his bike, "magically appeared" on the side of the road.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office was called to the Town of Wayne just before 6 p.m., after one of the men -- a 31-year-old -- crashed his bike. The 31-year-old motorcyclist was arrested for first offense drunk driving, second violation -- which occurs when a driver has a first offense drunk driving pending and is arrested a second time before being convicted of the first offense.

Officials say the man's riding partner, a 42-year-old man, stopped at the scene of the crash and was also arrested for drunk driving -- his third offense.

According to the sheriff's office, after his arrest the 42-year-old said his motorcycle "magically appeared" on the side of the road and he did not drive it there. However, when he called a friend to the scene to pick up the bike, authorities said he pulled out the keys from his front pocket.
