Officials: Milwaukee man used alcohol to sexually assault victims; police urge other potential victims to come forward

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office has brought forward charges against 32-year-old Joshua Schober of Milwaukee, alleging four separate counts of sexual assault against four different adult victims. According to a Milwaukee County criminal complaint, the assaults reportedly occurred between July 2018 and April 2022.

The victims' statements within the criminal complaint revealed a pattern where the encounters were facilitated by alcohol consumption.

In the first account, dated March 11, 2018, the criminal complaint notes that the victim told officials that she met Schober after a concert and was later assaulted at an apartment on North Maryland Ave.

The second charge in the complaint pertains to an incident on Nov. 2, 2018, where the victim is said to have had an evening out with a friend, was intoxicated and later taken to the same Maryland Ave. address. The next morning, she had no recollection of consenting to any sexual activity.

Another assault is alleged to have taken place at West Juneau Ave. on March 1, 2020. Surveillance footage from the victim’s residence showed her returning with an unidentified male, and subsequent DNA evidence both connected the encounter to Schober.

The most recent charge in the criminal complaint is dated Feb. 13, 2022, where the victim met Schober on Water St. She reported feeling uncomfortable in his presence and later woke up to him assaulting her in an apartment at E. Royall Place.

Three of the four alleged assaults in the complaint involved Schober making contact with the victims late at night in Milwaukee's Water Street area.

The Milwaukee Police Department and the District Attorney's Office continue their investigation and have raised concerns about potential additional victims.
