Officials: Reckless driving crash in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood leaves 2 dead
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two people are dead after a driver lost control and crashed into a tree in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood Friday night, April 23.
Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 11:19 p.m. Friday night on the 500 block of E. Burleigh Street.
Officers in a marked squad observed a vehicle driving extremely reckless and at excessive speeds.
Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle continued traveling at excessive speeds and a pursuit ensued.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirms the occupants of the vehicle, a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, died from their injuries sustained in the crash.
The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation.
