Ordinance could pump the brakes on pedal taverns in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Pedal taverns in the city could be forced to come to a complete stop.

The Public Works Committee will review a two-part ordinance that would tighten rules on the moving taverns, or pump the brakes on them altogether with a complete ban.

One option would allow the consumption of alcohol on commercial pedal taverns at a limit of 36 ounces--or three 12-ounce cans of beer--per passenger.

The second option would completely ban consumption of alcohol on pedal taverns in the city.

The committee will review both options at City Hall Wednesday morning.
