Pabst Theater's Chandelier was Lowered and its 33,000 Crystals were Cleaned

Pabst Theater’s chandelier, which hangs above the historic theater, was lowered on Tuesday for cleaning.

The chandelier weighs more than a ton. 

It has to be manually lowered 68 feet to the ground using the original metal hand crank.

Each of its 33,000 crystals are cleaned and polished by hand over a two day period.

A group of ushers and volunteers are taking care of the annual task today and tomorrow.
