Parade of Homes takes design and homebuilding to the next level
GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's the 77th annual MBA Parade of Homes. This year, 12 houses were selected -- seven in Germantown and five in the Village of Sussex.
The homes showcase the latest in homebuilding design and technologies. with the latest home building and design trends
"People are always asking us 'what's that color? Where did you get that idea from? Where did that come from?'," said Pete Lange with Tim O'Brien Homes.
While the homes in the parade aren't much different than standard home layouts, the builders like to elevate those popular features.
"We kind of put in on steroids," said Eva Fryar, the president of Stepping Stone Homes.
If you can look beyond the high ceilings and basements with climbing walls and sunken media rooms, the beauty is in all of the details.
"Years ago, where everything had to kind of match, now it’s OK to have different color metals, different color, woods, different colored fabrics, much more of an eclectic style," said Lange.
The builders are always staying on top of emerging trends from around the country.
"We're always trying to be abreast of consumer preference, consumer trend and building for the way you live. So, we do want to make a statement," said Lange.
Common themes in homes this year include butler pantries and built-in coffee bars and buffets.
The parade of homes goes until Sept. 4th. You can get discounted tickets on the Metropolitan Builders Associations website.
