MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A U.S. Post Office was dedicated in honor of Vel R. Phillips Wednesday morning.
The post office is located near Center St. and N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
It will now be referred to as the Vel R. Phillips Post Office building.
Phillips was the first woman and African American elected to the Milwaukee Common Council and to statewide office.
