March weather stats: A wet and warm month

CBS 58

We are now a few days into the month of April and the weather stats for March are in! We finally saw the precipitation machine crank up during the month with multiple rounds of soaking rain that really added up. The entire month ended up seeing 4.19" of total precipitation which is almost exactly 2" above average (although still behind a very wet March 2024). It officially goes down as the 12th wettest March on record.

Even though we saw well above average precipitation, most of that fell as rain. But we did still get some snowfall with March seeing 5.6" of snowfall. Not bad for March but it was about an inch below the average and also below March 2024.

When it came to temperatures, March certainly lived up to it's reputation with temperatures a bit all over the place. But overall there was more warm air than cold air. The average temperature for the entire month of 39.3 was nearly a full three degrees above average and good enough to go down as the 19th warmest March on record. The warmest temp of March happened just a few days ago when we reached the upper 70s on Friday. The coldest day was a few weeks before that when we dropped into the teens.

Now we look ahead to April! The average highs during the month warm through the 50s to 60 by April 30th and the average lows go from the low 30s to the low 40s. April is one of the wettest months, on average, of the year with nearly 4" of total precipitation. And we do typically see a bit of snow during the month averaging 2.1".
