Presentation at Racine's River Bend Nature Center to discuss backyard hummingbird sanctuaries
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The River Bend Nature Center in Racine will host a presentation on how to create a sanctuary for Ruby-throated hummingbirds in individual backyards.
Sponsored by the Hoy Audubon Society and led by guest speakers Kathi and Michael Rock, the hummingbird-centered presentation will focus on the utilization of perennial and annual plants, wildflowers, shrubs, trees, water features and hummingbird feeders.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
The Rocks, passionate about hummingbirds and wildlife gardening for 24 years according to a press release announcing the event, will join as guest speakers to share their expertise on turning an ordinary yard into a hummingbird haven.
