Runners Ran Extra Mile or Two Due to Race Cones Being Kicked Over
Milwaukee's Running Festival occurred on Sunday, and controversy sparked after the race due to knocked over cones.
The event's representatives posted to it's Facebook page that race cones on the Hank Aaron trail had been kicked over by bystanders.
This caused some runners to run an extra mile or two.
"Once our staff was aware of the error, we quickly put new cones in place and runners were back on course. We apologize for the inconvenience this brought to the handful of runners in today's race, as we understand the amount of training and dedication that it takes to complete a marathon. We strive to have a world-class experience for all runners that showcases the city of Milwaukee, and we will continue to stay focused on this mission. We will be providing refunds to any runners who may have been impacted," posted the Running Festival.
The runners were in a the 3 hour marathon finish range.
