Sen. Dan Knodl announces run for Assembly
WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- The redrawing of Wisconsin's legislative maps has prompted one local lawmaker to announce a change.
Republican State Senator Dan Knodl says he will now run for a seat in the Assembly this fall.
Knodl has served in the Senate since last spring, but the new maps just approved and signed by the governor pushed him into the same district as another senator, Duey Stroebel.
So instead of running against another established Republican, Knodl tells Wispolitics.com he'll seek the 24th District Assembly seat, which covers Menomonee Falls, Germantown, Lannon and Butler.
“It has been my honor to serve in the State Senate, but this decision makes sense given the new district boundaries. The 24th Assembly District is my home. I can continue to represent my hometowns of Menomonee Falls and Germantown without having to engage in a costly primary with Senator Stroebel, who is a very respected, conservative member of the Senate,” said Knodl.
The new maps put Knodl in the Assembly district represented by Janel Brandtjen, who's under investigation for her possible role in an illegal campaign finance scheme.
