Starbucks Changes its Reward System Making it Harder to Receive Free Rewards

The Starbucks Rewards system is changing this April making it harder to receive free rewards, according to a press release from Starbucks.

The new system will reward based on what the customer buys at Starbucks not how many times the customer visits.

This means customers will earn two stars for every dollar spent on coffee, food, drinks, merchandise and more. Currently a star is rewarded for each visit.

The company claims this was a top suggestion from customers.

In order for a customer to reach Gold Level she only needed to have 30 stars. As of April, customers will need 300 stars to reach gold level.

Starbucks customers with 12 stars currently are entitled to a free reward, but as of April a customer will need 125 stars to receive a free reward.
