State Fair Milk House returns to Wisconsin State Fair

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A beloved tradition of the Wisconsin State Fair is back for the 2022 Fair! The Milk House, presented by Gruber Law Offices, LLC, will be operated by the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation and every dollar raised will be reinvested into capital improvements and programming that will be enjoyed by generations to come.

Located on the south end of the Fair Park, the Milk House is famous for serving traditional and not-so-traditional flavors of milk. The Foundation plans to serve thousands of 8 oz. cups of four different flavors of milk during the 11-day run of the Fair. At $1 per serving, the Milk House is known as one of the best values of the Fair.

The milk will be sourced from Prairie Farms Dairy.

“The Milk House celebrates our history as a dairy state and for many Fairgoers, it is a must-do for every visit,” said Anna Zeck, Foundation executive director. “We hope the milk will be that much sweeter for visitors with the knowledge that every sip helps the Wisconsin State Fair continue to grow.”

Join the Moo Crew

The Milk House takes a crew of many fun, energetic volunteers to serve milk over the run of the Fair. The Foundation is looking for school groups, athletic clubs, church groups or any community organizations that can bring a group of six or more people (16 years or older) to volunteer for a six-hour shift. All volunteers will receive free admission, T-shirts, parking and a $300 stipend for their organization. There are also a number of paid positions available.

All shifts are available. More information on volunteer and employment opportunities can be found HERE.

History of the Milk House

Originally known as The Herb Superb Milk House, the Milk House was founded in 1990 by Senator Herb Kohl in a red barn on the north end of the Fair Park. In 2013, the Milwaukee Bucks took over the Milk House, moving it to the south end and painting it the team’s signature green color. Earlier this year, the Milwaukee Bucks generously donated the Milk House to the Foundation. With the help of Gruber Law Offices, LLC, the Foundation has begun transforming the Milk House for the 2022 Fair and recently painted it a “chocolately” brown and will feature pink accents to reflect the fun milk flavors.

“We are tremendously appreciative of Gruber Law Offices for providing support to get the Milk House back in action this summer,” said Zeck. “It’s our hope that the Milk House will put the Foundation on the map and become a place where visitors can learn more about the work we do and hopefully, join our efforts to continue to improve the Fair.”

More about the Foundation

Proceeds from the Milk House will benefit the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation. The Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit, was founded in 1995 and helps the Wisconsin State Fair to grow. The organization uses donor contributions to support capital improvements, agricultural education and art programming tied to the Fair. In 2021, the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation funded improvements in the new Central Mall and Exploratory Park areas of the 200-acre Fair Park as well as a full calendar of events and programs.
