CEDARBURG, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The 49th annual Wine and Harvest Festival takes place in Cedarburg on Saturday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 17. While the city is known for its festivals, Wine and Harvest is the original.

There will be pumpkin weighing contests, pumpkin rolling and grape smashing to name a few.

“On Sunday, we have the giant pumpkin regatta, which we have four massive pumpkins 900 to 1,000 pounds, and they’ll be paddled across the creek,” said Patrick Curran, Executive Director for Festivals of Cedarburg.

“The winner will get a charity donation to the charity of their choice.”

Pumpkins and wine go together like Cedarburg and festivals, and over the two-day festival, 90,000 to 110,000 thousand people will visit Washington St.

Three hundred vendors will set up outside, plus six stages of music and fun. Bella Lei Salon once again has a stage that will host the Beauty for a Cause charity event.

“We got young girls and young at heart to come up on stage and enjoy fast updos, colored hair, princess styles, boys with pirate styles,” said Eric Stelter, owner of Bella Lei.

Employees volunteer and donate their skills. All of the money raised goes to a new charity every year.

All of the businesses also welcome people inside during the event. It’s a chance to visit the newer businesses, like Donut Monster and Art of Joy.

“It showcases Cedarburg and hopefully those 90 to 110,000 people come back on a non- festival weekend,” said Curran.
