Ten people displaced after Racine apartment building fire near 8th and College
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) --- Ten people are displaced after an apartment building fire near 8th and College in Racine on Saturday, March 27.
The Racine Fire Department was dispatched shortly after 9 a.m. The patrol officer who discovered the fire began immediately evacuating tenants from the two-story, six-unit apartment building, officials say.
The fire was discovered in the kitchen of one of the units and damage was contained to the area.
There were no injuries reported.
Officials say WE Energies disconnected gas and electric service to the apartment building. A life safety concern arose where a compromised electrical system was discovered during the origin and cause fire investigation, according to a news release.
Red Cross will assist ten tenants who were displaced as a result of this fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are also not available.
