MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The third annual Interfaith Cleanup took place on Saturday, Sept. 9.
The cleanup started and ended at the Islamic Society of Milwaukee.
For the most part, volunteers were members of Milwaukee's Muslim and Mormon communities.
Though the platform, "Just Serve" organizers say other volunteers showed up to help too.
They hope by having two different faiths come together, they can send a message that goes beyond picking up litter.
"I think it shows that we can be beyond judgements and prejudice, and it's an easy way to help people. That's really actually important in both of our faiths, is service," said Kate Mitchell, Community Outreach for the Church of Jesus Crist of Latter-Day Saints.
The cleanup lasted for an hour and a half, with about 200 people helping out.
They focused on the streets of Milwaukee's Garden District, along with the Layton Avenue exit ramp.
