MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- If you looked at the art display at Milwaukee's Mitchell Street Library and said to yourself "this looks like garbage," you'd be right!
It is a trash art gallery, created by Milwaukee students.
They created the pieces using items that are often mistaken for recyclable trash. It is one of the lessons they learned in art workshops hosted by Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful.
Milwaukee leaders highlighted the display on Friday, Nov. 15 for America Recycles Day, a national observance highlighting the importance of recycling.
"Recycling today helps to create the products that we need for tomorrow. It supports local jobs, it lowers program costs. And it also ensures resources for the future," said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
The trash art gallery will be on display during regular hours from now until Dec. 14.
