Starting today the Wells Street Bridge over the Milwaukee River will close until Friday to both pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
During the short-term closure a contractor will finish up with staining the concrete piers under the bridge and test out the new electrical system.
Work was halted on the rehabilitation project due to colder than normal weather last fall. Weather permitting that work is expected to wrap by Friday evening.

Drivers that normally take Wells over the Milwaukee River should use State St, Michigan or Kilbourn Ave. during their commute.
