UPDATE: Transit security officer fired for sleeping on the job

MILWAUKEE -- A security company under contract with Milwaukee County is now investigating one of its officers who is shown on video and appears be sleeping on the job.

After video surfaced on YouTube, G4S Security confirmed for CBS 58 News that it put the worker on administrative leave while it takes a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the video.

This is the same company that provides security for the Milwaukee County Transit System, but where the video was taken and what job the officer was working are both the subject of the investigation.

The man who took the video at one point taps on the window and asks the officer if he was sleeping.

The officer responds that he was \"just chilling and relaxing\" and denies sleeping.

We are not identifying the officer because this is a company probe and not a criminal investigation.

The Milwaukee County Executive forwarded inquiries to the transit system, which could not be reached for comment as of Thursday night.

When there is an update in the investigation, we will bring it to you.

Here is the G4S statement issued to CBS 58 News:

In response to a YouTube video featuring a G4S Transit Security Officer, G4S Secure Solutions (USA) has placed the employee on administrative leave while the matter is under investigation. G4S Security Officers are expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and vigilance while on duty. G4S takes these matters very seriously.

The Milwaukee County Transit System also released a statement:

After investigation of this incident, the G4S employee has been removed from the transit security contract.  We reminded G4S of the importance of providing a safe environment for our passengers and employees.
