UWM reaches agreement guaranteeing admission to graduates of 4 area technical colleges

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee announced a new agreement Tuesday, guaranteeing admission to graduates of four area technical colleges. 

The university says the agreements are with Milwaukee Area Technical College, Waukesha County Technical College, Moraine Park Technical College and Gateway Technical College. 

They say beginning in summer of 2024, any graduate with an associate degree from these colleges - and at least a 2.0 grade point average - will be "guaranteed a seamless transfer of at least 60 credits towards a bachelor's degree at UWM." 

Those interested will need to complete a brief intent form, for free, opposed to the formal admission application. 

In fall of 2023, UWM says 260 new transfer students were welcomed from the four institutions - a number expected to grow under the new agreements. 

UWM says in the past 10 years, 82% of the school's graduates have stayed in Wisconsin, adding to the workforce.
