Veterans Have Permanent Memorial at Luther Manor in Wauwaotsa
Military veterans who live at Luther Manor, a non-profit in Wauwatosa, now have a permanent memorial on campus in their honor.
A dedication ceremony was held on Wednesday for the unveiling.
A full color honor guard took part in the ceremonies.
Dave Myers, a 25-year Army veteran and resident of Luther Manor, started the planning process a couple of years ago as a way to recognize those who served their country.
"I spent two weeks going door to door counting veterans living at Luther Manor and came up with 120 World War II and Korean War vets," says Myers. "I thought we needed recognition here, so when I spotted a blank wall in the Welcome Center, I decided that could be my canvas for the memorial and I drew up a design."
The monument is in Luther Manor's Welcome Center.
