WCTC culinary program partners with students to prepare Thanksgiving meals for families in need

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) --  For years, a chef at Waukesha County Technical College's culinary program has teamed up with his students to prepare turkey dinners for families in need.

Now, he's looking to expand that program.

"We continue to keep growing and growing, and hopefully we start to put a dent in the food crisis we have around the holiday time," said Chef Instructor Jack Birren.

Chef Birren and the Waukesha County Tech students prepared 25 Thanksgiving dinners on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

This time, they were joined by students from Kettle Moraine High School. He's hoping the students will not only learn about cooking large amounts of food, but will also be inspired by the impact they're having on the lives of families, and carry on the tradition of giving.
