WFB residents concerned about burglaries

WHITEFISH BAY - Police have issued a crime alert about three recent burglaries. They happened in homes in the 5600 and 5700 blocks of Shore Drive in the last month or so. The most recent happened early Saturday morning. The resident heard a window break and found out someone had broken in and stolen valuables. Police believe the burglar actually looks through the victims' windows and locates something of value like a purse or a wallet. The person then either walks in an unlocked door or breaks a window to steal the property. Police suggest people in the area leave exterior lights on overnight, occasionally look out their windows in the evenings or early morning hours and report anything suspicious. Police say they are actively patrolling the area of the burglaries. They're also checking with the Department of Corrections to see if any convicted burglars on supervision have been released in the area.
