Winter parking restrictions change in Milwaukee

A \"slight parking improvement,\" that's what residents on Milwaukee's east-side and downtown are saying about the new winter parking restrictions that take effect on December first.

This year for residents living in the '5-day exception parking area,' mainly the east-side or downtown, can park on both sides of the street. That is, until the Department of Public Works makes an announcement. Then residents must move to the odd or even side of the street depending on the date.

That alert comes out on a 'snow mobile winter text alert.' People who don't move can be ticketed or towed.

The city has some links where you can sign up for a text or email alert. See them by clicking HERE.
