Woman rescued from burning home Saturday night

Fire fighters from Milwaukee’s Engine 37 rescued a handicapped elderly woman from her burning home late Saturday night. According to Milwaukee Fire Department officials, when fire fighters arrived on the scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the home at N 19th Place and W Courtland Avenue. Crews entered the home and were able to locate the woman. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where she is being treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there is no dollar estimate of the damage to the home.
