WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- YMCAs in the Greater Waukesha County area are making sure people stay safe around water this summer.
It's all a part of their Safety Around Water Community Day.
The day will kick off Saturday May 20, at various YMCAs in Waukesha County.
The purpose of the day is to give people lifesaving skills around the water.
"Going to talk about reach or throw, don’t go, so how you can help someone who is struggling in the water swim, float, swim, which will help -- you know, what to do if you're getting tired," said Sam Seidel, associate executive director of the YMCA Waukesha branch.
The day will be free and open to the public. The YMCA said that move was intentional.
"We just recognize this is a need in our community and we can't really put a price tag on saving lives," said Seidel.
