WATERTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Three people were taken to Aurora Summit Hospital after three motorcycles went down on County Trunk T in Watertown on Saturday, Sept. 26, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say they responded at around 10:39 a.m. near County Trunk T and Loam Road. The motorcycles were part of a larger group on a pre-planned ride through Jefferson County, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators say the group was heading west when the lead rider lost control, crossed in front of the riders behind him and tipped his motorcycle onto its side. The sheriff's office said he was not wearing a helmet and had a serious head injury.

The second rider avoided the first motorcycle but tipped over and was not hurt. That rider was wearing a helmet.

The driver and passenger of the third motorcycle hit the second one and also went down. Neither was wearing a helmet, and both reportedly had head and leg injuries.
