3 military ballots delivered to Rep. Brandtjen's home, Waukesha Co. Sheriff's Office investigating

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Wisconsin state Assembly representative received some unexpected mail last Thursday, Oct. 27.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department confirms Rep. Janel Brandtjen, chair of the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections, received three military ballots at her home address.

Brandtjen's office says the ballots were addressed to someone named Holly, but with three different last names. They were sent from clerks in Menomonee Falls, South Milwaukee and Shorewood.

The Republican says she believes someone was trying to prove a point about military ballots, adding a statement that said:

“I believe someone was trying to point out how easy it is to get military ballots in Wisconsin. Registration for military ballots is not required, so a fictitious name and birthdate is all that is required to obtain a military ballot online. Feeling shocked about this situation is an understatement because it demonstrates stolen valor from those who protect this nation. I think it’s sad that people feel they have to break the law to get the attention of the Legislature. This is now the second time citizens have tried to point out loopholes in our elections."

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department and district attorney are investigating these ballots.
