36 Milwaukee Police Department members test positive for COVID-19

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department reported Thursday, May 7, 36 employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

MPD says many of those members have fully recovered and have returned to work, while others remain under self-quarantine.

According to a news release from the department, officers respond to over 500 known COVID-19 positive locations each week, in addition to countless traffic stops, citizen contacts and other interactions with the public that place our members at significant risk of contracting the virus.

For the safety of the members and for the safety of the public, the Milwaukee Police Department is actively working with other city departments, including the Milwaukee Health Department and the Milwaukee Fire Department, to facilitate testing for its members.

Due to current limitations on testing capacities, MPD prioritized District 5 as the first location to receive testing as it is located in a heavily affected area. Our goal is to provide a test to every member of our department as additional tests become available.

All police officers are now required to wear personal protective equipment when interacting with the public. This requirement was made immediately after an adequate amount of masks was obtained through purchase and donations.

MPD continues to accept N95 and KN95 mask donations. Please contact supportMPD@milwaukee.gov if you would like to make a donation.

They didn't want to release this information to the public as they considered it a security risk. It is. Now the Crime Stars know that the cops are short handed & could go out & do more crime with a greater chance of not getting caught. Everybody arm yourself & get ready for an onslaught in crime. It's coming. Don't rely on others to protect you from the villain's as they are limited in their response times. When you see a crime in progress, take the crime star down & out. Your community relies on you.

Who commits violent crime, murder, rape in Milwaukee? Statistics and Facts are RACIST...

Young Bucks on the north side of Milwaukee are well armed, but not very good shots... Wisconsin Hunters, with their long guns, can hit a target at long distances.

When does your proposed special hunt begin? Do you need a special hunting license, or stamps for the hunt? Safari Milwaukee...
