4 young people dead, 1 in serious condition following early-morning crash in Dodge County

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Four young people are dead, and another seriously hurt, following a crash in Dodge County Monday, May 27. 

According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 4 a.m. on State Highway 16/60 at the intersection of County Road TT in the township of Elba -- about three miles east of Columbus. 

An initial investigation has revealed a 2000 Ford F-150 was traveling north on County Highway TT when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at State Highway 16/60. Officials say a 2017 semi without trailer, traveling east on State Highway 16/60, struck the Ford F-150. 

The driver of the semi, a 57-year-old man from La Farge, Wisconsin was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. 

Three of the five occupants in the Ford F-150 were pronounced dead at the scene, including the 19-year-old driver from Sun Prairie, identified by the Dodge County Sheriff's Office as Luis Gamillo, 17-year-old Erik Gamillo Calzada from Sun Prairie, and 16-year-old Ivan Herrera from Sun Prairie. An 18-year-old woman, identified as Alix Hernandez, later died at UW Hospital. Another 18-year-old woman from Madison, identified as Joseline Herrara, was transported to UW Madison Hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

Assisting at the scene was Beaver Dam paramedics, Columbus Fire Department, Life Star EMS, Dodge County Emergency Response Team, the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Dodge County sheriff chaplains.
