MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department welcomed their newest graduating recruits on Thursday, Feb. 1.
"I'm very excited to see the type of energy here, to hear the hoops and hoops coming from family and friends and that there's a lot of support coming from the members of the MPD family, so this is a great day," said Chief Jeffrey Norman.
"I'm happy and relieved it's over but I'm ready to go out there and make a difference," said Christian Casinao, graduate.
41 recruitment officers from class 2023 graduated from the police academy, marking the start of their law enforcement carers.
Around 1,600 officers have been sworn in.
