FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Five people were arrested in Fond Du Lac after a police chase ended after the car attempted to hide near a farmstead on Forest Avenue Rd. Sunday, Jan. 18.
Fond Du Lac police say that a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Rolling Meadows Dr. on a car with license plates that didn't belong to it.
When the deputy approached, it fled southbound on Rolling Meadows Dr. and a chase began. The chase traveled westbound on Highway 23 and lasted 23 minutes, covering over 24 miles.
During the pursuit, the driver made several U-turns in an attempt to avoid spike strips and even drove head-on towards deputies to evade capture according to the press release.
The chase eventually ended when the car attempted to hide near a farmstead on Forest Ave. Rd. It entered a ditch and came to a rest near a pole shed.
Five people were arrested and police searched the car, finding suspected marijuana, alcohol and a handgun hidden in a black bag.
No vehicle was damaged in the chase.
The driver, a 20-year-old from Black Creek, was charged with multiple counts of recklessly endangering safety, felony fleeing and eluding, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple traffic violations.
The four passengers, all under 21, received citations of underage possession of alcohol and some were given citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.
