Milwaukee 5-year-old found on school bus after falling asleep during commute home

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- GO Riteway, the transit company involved in the incident where a five-year-old was left on a bus after falling asleep on his way home from school, has issued a statement, noting that the employee involved is no longer employed there.

"Yesterday evening, one of our employees did not follow well established company safety protocols at the end of their shift. We regret the situation occurred and are happy the student was found safe. GO Riteway will continue to fully cooperate with the proper authorities as the investigation takes place. In accordance with our policies, this employee is no longer employed by GO Riteway."

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A five-year-old child reported missing on Jan. 8 was found unharmed later that evening, asleep on a school bus in a company parking lot.

Authorities responded to the missing child report near 91st and Marion in Milwaukee following a call from the child's mother, concerned after the child did not return home from school.

The child's father discovered him on the bus, where he had fallen asleep. According to a Milwaukee Police Department press release issued Wednesday, Jan. 10, the child was scared and crying but physically unharmed.
