MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Packers Hall of Famer Gilbert Brown is a big man, with a big heart.

"This weather's awesome," Gilbert Brown says. "We had so many beautiful people come out here. Now I got my home boy out here to make it complete so it's awesome man. It's awesome."

Brown greeted football campers, at Bradley Tech High School.

"The thing about it Lance is it's like this. Some of these kids out here will never be able to go to a big-time camp because it costs too much," Brown says. "I'm giving you an opportunity to come out here and learn the same things they're learning. But for free."

Where character building is taught as much as the game

"Teach these kids discipline, respect, and football," Brown says. "But you heard the way I did that. Discipline, respect, then football. I'm out here teaching life skills. Life. Then sports. You know what I'm saying? Everybody, you see all the athletes now days. They praise God before they say anything. That's what we're trying to do out here. Some of them became firemen. Some of them became newscasters. Some of them were interning for this. I don't care what they end up doing. Just do something. Be a leader, not a follower."

Yet one interesting thing for the Gravedigger. He was drafted and cut by the Vikings. He still hates purple.

"Bradley Tech, there's nothing but purple around here," Brown says. "I went to a guy's office over here. And he had purple everything. I threw everything by the garbage. He's still mad at me."
