Accumulating snow likely on Wednesday as a Winter Storm Watch is issued

Update: A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the blue shaded counties for the expected snowfall on Wednesday.
Snow totals will likely be in the 3-6" range, with the potential for some higher amounts, mainly lakeside, due to any lake enhancement. The lack of snow continues to start the new work week.
But we look to cut into this deficit with snowfall likely throughout your Wednesday. What has been consistent is the timing for this event, lasting from the morning commute right into the evening. It also appears to be a rather dry fluffy so, so while not back breaking, the totals may pile up nicely. Additionally, winds will have an easterly to northeast component, so lake enhancement is possible, especially from Milwaukee and points south. Here's a look at the threat breakdown: Because of the lengthy duration of snow, I'm putting the snow and roads with a high impact. Temperatures will be in the 20s so cold is of moderate concern. Winds look to be in the 5-15mph range, so at least some reduced visibility is expected, but likely not white out conditions. The type of snow also looks to be rather dry and fluffy, so while not a back breaker, higher totals are possible where some spots, especially near the lake could exceed a half foot. Both commutes will be impacted. Certainly, the evening commute features more snow on the roads, so travel will be increasingly challenged as the day wears on. While it won't top the one-day record snowfall for February that today's date holds - A swath of 3-6" looks likely. That said, expect some tweaking to these totals as this system is still forming off to our southwest. Any wobble in the track could mean lesser amounts for our northwestern locations. And lake enhancement may push totals more into the 5-8" range for central and southern lake shore locations. We will continue to fine tune the snow values as we get a better handle on the storm as it fully forms and gets closer to the area.I'm meteorologist Rebecca Schuld
