Advocate Health volunteers plant 100 trees in Milwaukee's Popuch Park
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A hundred trees were planted at a local park Tuesday, Oct. 13, by volunteers from Advocate Health. This was part of Advocate Health's initiative to plant 30,000 trees across communities it serves by 2030.
The goal is to bring green space back to communities, helping address environmental factors that can impact health like extreme heat, air pollution and flooding.
Advocate Health's Vice President for Sustainability Cecilia DeLoach Lynn shared that this initiative also gives employees an opportunity to give back to their communities.
"Most people in healthcare are in it because they are really committed to health and wellbeing in their communities," Lynn said. "And this gives them a tangible way to contribute to building the resilience of their communities."
"We were really excited about this event. There was actually a waitlist for this event, so seeing kind of that level of excitement and enthusiasm for getting out and getting your hands literally dirty is really fun and exciting."
The trees planted Tuesday were planted at Popuch Park in Milwaukee.
The initiative expands across Advocate Health's entire footprint, spanning six states.
