Animal matchmaking: Milwaukee County Zoo hosting Valentine's event Feb. 12
Zoological Society of Milwau MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Zoo is hosting Hearts & Tails, an adults-only Valentine's Day week event on Thursday, Feb. 12 that explores how zoos pair animals for breeding.
The evening runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and includes dinner, drinks, dessert and a walk through the Apes of Africa and Primates of the World building. Zoo staff will discuss the behind-the-scenes approach to pairing animals for breeding, including how the zoo's two newest rhinos were matched together.
The event is for adults 21 and older. Tickets are $65 for Zoo Pass members and $75 for non-members and must be purchased by Jan. 29.
People who can't attend can sponsor one of the zoo's newest rhinos for $50. The sponsorship includes a plush toy rhino, a chocolate heart, an invitation to a behind-the-scenes event in August and more.
