WEST BEND (CBS 58) -- Art and Chalk Fest returns to West Bend this weekend. You can watch artists create large-scale works of chalk art right in front of your eyes.

Join the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) at its annual Art & Chalk Fest—a live arts weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20–21 in West Bend, Wisconsin.

This free, outdoor, live-arts festival is set amidst the museum’s four-acre campus and features some of the best artists from around Wisconsin, and it gives you a look into their process of creating the art.

"People kind of view artwork as this magical process, so seeing the work that actually goes into it, and seeing the different approaches that artists take, and the materials they use, and techniques- I think it's educational and interesting," said Ally Wilber, the curator at the Museum of Wisconsin Art.

There will be 18 chalk artists this year, plus you can see demonstrations from glassblowers, papermakers and pot throwers.

"If you're watching an artist who is throwing a pot, and then you purchase a pot, you kind of understand what went into that precious item that you purchased," said Wilber.

You'll be able to buy art from 20 local artisans. The festival will also have a community chalking area, activities for kids to get creative, food and music.

And it's free to visit the museum exhibits during the two-day festival.
